Yoga for Mental Health and Well-being

Yoga is a holistic practice that nurtures both the body and mind, offering a sanctuary of calm amidst the demands of daily life. By integrating breath control, meditation, and physical postures, yoga helps you connect with your inner self, fostering mental clarity and emotional balance. The mental health benefits of yoga are well-documented—it can reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress, while also improving sleep, boosting mood, and enhancing overall emotional resilience.

Applied Polyvagal Theory in Yoga

Our yoga sessions are uniquely designed with the integration of Applied Polyvagal Theory, a cutting-edge approach to understanding and regulating the nervous system. Polyvagal Theory, developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, emphasizes the importance of the vagus nerve in our emotional and physiological responses.

By applying this theory to yoga, we tailor our practice to support nervous system regulation, helping you move out of the fight-or-flight response and into a state of safety and connection.

During our sessions, specific postures, breathwork techniques, and mindful movements are used to stimulate the vagus nerve and promote a sense of calm and well-being. This approach not only enhances the physical benefits of yoga but also deepens its impact on your mental and emotional health. By working with your body’s natural rhythms and responses, our yoga practice helps you build resilience, improve emotional regulation, and foster a greater sense of safety in both body and mind.

Our Offerings

The Path Forward Support Services offers online classes that are both live and on-demand. In-person sessions are held in a 1:1 setting, integrating yoga with psychotherapy. These sessions focus on poses that support relieving symptoms of anxiety or depression and nervous system regulation. Guided meditations are offered at the conclusion of the session. Additionally, workshops are held to focus on a particular theme that supports mental wellness. Participants do not need to have any prior yoga experience to attend, as classes are designed to be supportive of all levels of experience.
